Bugteeth Motorcycle Tail of the Dragon Challenge.
The Tail of the Dragon (U.S. 129) straddles the North Carolina-Tennessee border just south of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is about 90 minutes south of Knoxville, Tenn., and about two hours west of Asheville, N.C. Peak traffic is in July/August and October. Best driving/riding season is March-early November.
When you complete this Challenge you will earn a certificate. There is the option of an Aluminum Sublimated Plaque that will last a lifetime and you may also opt for a custom patch customized to your certification with the challenge, time and distance traveled.
What’s the Tail of the Dragon’s appeal?
With approximately 48 Deaths from 1995 through the end of 2018, it is not for the faint of heart. It is only 11 Miles, but there is an element of danger to it. There are many, many places to ride in the area. You could spend a week here riding places like:
